This website is a working tool for CROMA, a collaborative and multidisciplinar research initiative at MIT that aims at developing technologies and use case scenarios for building responsive, programmable, and energy-smart architectural components. CROMA gathers MIT experts in the fields of Architecture, Media Arts and Chemical Engineering to envision and implement compelling scenarios of smart, interactive architectures.
CROMA was initiated by Daniel Cardoso, Avni Argun and Carlos Rocha, and collaborates remotely with the New York based firm SOFTLab.

CROMA has received valuable guidance and support from Neil Gershenfeld at the Center for Bits and Atoms at MIT and from Bill Mitchell at the DesignLab/Smart Cities Group. Some of the research prototypes and artistic explorations in this website have been partially funded by the MIT Council for the Arts.
